Our friends at DP Architects recently won two awards for the design and build of Goodlife Studios (Bukit Purmei) as well as Goodlife Makan Community Kitchen.
Goodlife Studio @ Bukit Purmei received a Merit award in this year’s SIA Architectural Design Awards under the Social & Humanitarian Architecture category. Located at Bukit Purmei, this studio has been intentionally conceptualised and built to offer a “light-hearted environment where free expression is encouraged, normalising mistakes and imperfections” as DP Architects aptly describe. Its stunning main highlight is the signature carpentry area reserved especially for male seniors to build and craft projects ranging from small wooden collectibles to bookshelves and fall-prevention stools for the community.
Meanwhile, Goodlife Makan secured the title of Winner at the Urban Land Institute Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence. The community kitchen engages stay-alone seniors in the community to come together to socialise, cook, serve, and dine with the many new friends they make here. DP Architects conceptualised the space accordingly, creating an open-plan interior with a shared kitchen at its centre, featuring distinctive and bright hues to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for our seniors to bond over the shared joy of food.
Thank you very much to our talented friends at DP Architects for creating these open, inviting, and cheerful community spaces, to empower our seniors to continue to be active contributors to the community, and congratulations on your recent wins!
