MP Mr. Louis Ng visits Goodlife Studio (Yishun Riverwalk)

All smiles at Goodlife Studio (Yishun Riverwalk)

Last Friday, Member of Parliament for Nee Soon and Advisor for Nee Soon East, Mr. Louis Ng, joined us for the official launch of Montfort Care’s newest Active Ageing Centre—Goodlife Studio (Yishun Riverwalk). Themed as a bike kitchen, this centre is designed to inspire seniors to stay active, engaged, and socially connected in their silver years. With a unique blend of technology-driven fitness, social spaces, and hands-on experiences, Goodlife Studio redefines ageing by making wellness accessible, interactive, and future-ready.

When you walk into Goodlife Studio, you wouldn’t immediately think it was a space designed for seniors. Mr. Ng himself remarked that the centre felt youthful and vibrant—an intentional reflection of our ethos towards ageing. We believe that Active Ageing Centres (AACs) need to be future-ready to serve the next generation of seniors, offering them spaces that are dynamic, social, and engaging.

One of the key highlights of the visit was a guided tour of the centre, where Mr. Ng had the opportunity to experience some of the unique programmes firsthand. Seniors showcased their reflexes and motor skills through an interactive and fun training system. A small group Muay Thai session demonstrated the importance of strength and agility at any age, while a lively Drum Fit performance combined rhythm, movement, and exercise to get everyone energised.

A hands-on bike maintenance session brought together a group of seniors eager to pick up new skills, reinforcing the centre’s commitment to lifelong learning and practical engagement. Additionally, Mr. Ng took part in an interactive demonstration of our power-generating bicycle, pedaling to create energy—a fun and engaging way to promote both fitness and sustainability.

A standout feature of Goodlife Studio is its built-in café, where cyclists from the neighbourhood can drop by for a quick bite, served by our senior volunteers. This café isn’t just a refreshment stop—it’s a social hub where seniors take on meaningful roles, fostering intergenerational connections and building a strong sense of community.

Sustainability is a key theme woven throughout the centre, from the power-generating bicycle to eco-conscious design elements. To commemorate the launch, Mr. Ng signed our signature bamboo bicycle—a nod to the centre’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in active ageing.

The visit wrapped up with coffee and a warm chat at our Active Studio, where seniors and staff had the chance to exchange ideas and share their experiences with Mr. Ng. The event was a celebration of what’s possible when we reimagine ageing—making it active, social, and empowering.
